4.6 dies on starting

Hello,

Yesterday I disconnected the maf sensor on the 4.6 GEMS to install a snorkel. Reconnected everything and for some odd reason, when starting it dies after a few seconds. If i disconnect the maf plug, engine will stay on. But if I switch off and re-connect the maf plug, it starts and dies soon after. The ecu light does not come on.

I tried another used maf sensor but still the same.

Any idea what might be the problem or what I need to check? These is voltage at the plug.

Will it go to limp mode if I drive with the maf disconnected?

Thanks,

Rob

It goes into some sort of backup plan without MAF. Could it be it's reading a totally different airflow because of the snorkel? Has it gotten dirty?

Do you have access to diagnostic equipment so you can see the MAF readings? And reset fuel trims?

You haven't perhaps knocked the impact-sensor switch during your work, have you?

I did this on my 90 when replacing the clutch M/Cyl some years back (impact switch is under the bonnet near the clutch master on a 90) and then spent a frustrating afternoon wondering why the £$(*%&£$%^$! thing wouldn't start.
