Panhard rod bush problems...

Recommended Posts

Noticed that my panhard rod bushes had some play in them a while back, so I finally got round to replacing them today. Wish I hadn't started!

First problem was that quite a bit of the play is actually being caused by the holes in the axle mount being oval shaped, so I can move the bolt around in there quite easily. Is there anything I can do to remedy that? (other than replace the axle casing)

Second problem... the new bushes don't fit! I bought some polybushes as replacements, and they are way too small. Part number ANR3410 on the bag, when I went to fit them they just fell straight through the hole...

Is there a different part number I don't know about? Or have I just been sent the wrong part?

Right... I've done some measuring. I have 2 sets of panhard rod polybushes, different manufacturers, both ANR3410. They both measure around 29.5mm outside diameter. The hole for the bush to go into on my panhard rod measures 35mm inside diameter. Not surprised I'm having problems!!

I think I must have a panhard rod from a post 2002 (possibly post 2007?) defender, which has a larger bush?
