Mutley
Just purchased a "New Genuine take off 2014 Front bumper" from the Bay, mainly because the one on my 300tdi has x4 holes in it where the bull bars where fixed. Any way it was advertised as genuine heavy duty, when it arrived i went to pick it up and set myself for a bit of weight! Well i nearly threw the thing over my shoulder and into the next county, it was that light!!! On inspection i would say it's made out of 3mm thick steel and also the depth (top to bottom) is 8mm less on the so called Td5 bumper! Does this sound right???? Either way gunna look at covering the holes in the old bumper which is made of at least 5mm steel and weighhs as though it's mega heavy duty, and repainting it. western
or get your existing bumper bead blasted, weld the holes up, grind the welds flush & have it galvanised.
Mutley
Mmmm like the idea of filling and grinding them flush, but not a galvy fan, well not where it can be seen at least. Think i will put the wire brush on the grinder then lather it in Bonda
western
can always treat & paint galvanised parts, same as I did with my new galv chassis.
