Billy3334 Posted March 16, 2015 Share Posted March 16, 2015 Help I hav a defender 90 with puma engine, wen it's started up its got a loud knocking noise, seems to be under injectors, 07 plate , wen it's revved up it goes away abit, not smoking, powers still there. This is a known issue and land Rover where at one time replacing engines where owners had reported knocking on startup: I'm not saying this is 100% your problem as you will need to check your engine or VIN number and cross reference. RustyNissanPrairie Posted March 21, 2015 Share Posted March 21, 2015 is the noise just as it starts or all the time at tickover? Does the rattling have a rhythm? Slight possibility that timing chain tensioner/chain, is out of adjustment if the engine has fairly high miles allowing the chain to rattle around a bit.
