rich broom
I finally bought myself a plasma cutter after years of should I and oh I'm a bit skint. What an amazing tool to use. I should have had one years ago. Much nicer than a cutting disc on a grinder.
daslandroverman
I paid £600 for mine, it's more than made its money over the few years i've had it.
robertspark
Yup I can agree... Even better when you give it intelligence with a plasma cutting table Like a damn good mig welder can be very handy too

dhutch
My mates got a (fairly) cheap Chinese semi-branded afiar, first one failed fairly quickly as I recall but was swapped for a new one and or slightly different one and the new one appears to be lasting well. Self-starting, as most appear to be these days, good times. As you say, supper useful! Daniel
reb78
I got a Chinese Cut40 off of ebay for about £200 about five years ago. I expected it not to last, but for my intermittent hobby use, its been great.
Ozzy50
I've said it before ,R tech are the guys to go to . James
dangerous doug
Just bought an r-tech one. I think a grinder has cost more in the long run replacing disks Than the initial cost of the plasma. And I'm not factoring in time there either! They are brilliant and the only regret I have was that I diddnt get one sooner!
GW8IZR
I bought an r-tech P30 and its excellent. *if* I had my time again, I'd buy the slightly bigger P50 version, not because of the extra cutting capacity but the torch is a bit nicer and more robust. d-9
Also got a p30, still really learning how to use it, not going to replace the grinder for me - I like the nice straight cuts you get with a 1mm disc, but for finishing off cutting holes, cutting awkward shapes and chopping off rusty boots, it's fantastic. It's probably had the most use on bolts and stuff lately, just because it works in such a tight space and no risk of cutting nearby lines/hoses/wires. UdderlyOffroad
Yep, finally joined the plasma club with a £200 Chinese jobbie, with pilot start. Wow. Sounds like a nest of angry wasps who've been subjected to repeated "your mum" taunts. But boy can it cut through steel. Am sure a brand-name unit like R-tech would probably give better results, but for the moment this will do nicely. A tip though, as well as upgrading the filter/water separator unit that comes with the machine, invest in a decent air hose. Screwfix were doing the 10mm stuff cheap recently, and you can probably find good prices on Ebay. Matt
