elbekko
So far only found these, and while very affordable, they have the wrong offset: http://www.paddockspares.com/6805120bkmo-16x8-black-modular-for-discovery-2.html They're ET+25, while the stock wheels are ET+57 (as far as I can find). That's a bit too much difference, as a 265/75R16 tyre will hit with such a low ET. Are there any options (that preferably don't break the bank)? landroversforever
Were there any steel wheel options for the D3? they are the same stud pattern but with a differnent spigot size.
elbekko
Maybe, but I don't think there were any D3's with 16" wheels? I'll go check though.
rrr47
Try Silverline, they have good choice of steel wheels. I think as well the P38 stud pattern is the same as VW vans and the like. http://www.silverlinewheels-tyres.com/
elbekko
No 5x120 and no ET+57, sadly: http://www.silverlinewheels-tyres.com/4x4/wheels/steel
rrr47
Is this type of wheel any good? http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/steel-wheels/volkswagen/t4-caravelle-california/vr6-19918
elbekko
A bit narrow for a 265 I'm afraid
landroversforever
If you fancy spending a few quid, could always get a set of custom Mach5s made? or Stazworks?
elbekko
Yeah, I looked at the Stazworks site... let's not Guess I'll just have to pick up some cheapo alloys, and hope I find a set that aren't ugly as sin.
Ally V8
A lot of P38's were fitted with steel rim spare tyres. Would be worth mailing a few breakers,on plenty of them I used to service, the spare had never been used.
Nigelw
A bit narrow for a 265 I'm afraid If correct ET then why not get them banded out to right width, I got a set of 5 Disco steels in being done at the minute. http://www.velgenverbreden.nl/

landroversforever
Pictures needed when they're done Nigel! I'll be having my Wolfs banded when the time comes. Will be adding 1.5-2" to the outside.
Nigelw
I've gone for 50mm extra to get them to 9" wide, not sure it was the right thing to do as her in doors wants the Terrafirma alloys still. I don't really want alloys any more after seeing an LC destroy a rim running low pressures and popping the bead on a rock, steelie could be bent back and at worst a tube stuck in it. landroversforever
Mine want to be about 8" I think for the 12.5" wide tyres
elbekko
A lot of P38's were fitted with steel rim spare tyres. Would be worth mailing a few breakers,on plenty of them I used to service, the spare had never been used. I've got one of those as a spare, should remember to check out what the specs are. They're ridiculously expensive new, but maybe I can find a few. Not too many breakers around here. If correct ET then why not get them banded out to right width, I got a set of 5 Disco steels in being done at the minute. http://www.velgenverbreden.nl/ Sounds pretty expensive, €40/wheel, plus the wheel itself. landroversforever
If you can get them from breakers in the UK Ben, I'm happy to keep them until you're next in the UK?
elbekko
That'll be this weekend probably, so might be a bit short notice But thanks for the offer.
LaRoNut
Bentley, Mini and BMW also has 5X120 PCD with a variety of offset specifications. Their sparewheel rims might be more freely available. Might be worth a try.
western
Don't believe I've ever seen a P38 RR on steel wheels, there's 3 in the parts list, but not shown in the parts listing for steels for this RR model http://lrcat.com/#40/4/49600 http://lrcat.com/#40/4/49601
LaRoNut
BMW E36 + E46 have 5.120 pcd on 6.5x16 steel rims for winter tyres, with 47mm offset. I run 265/75x16s on FC rims which are also 6.5 wide without a problem (not on my P38 though). But why do you want steel, just out of interest? The center hole for BMW rim is +/- 1mm larger than P38. The 10mm less offset is negated by the slightly narrower rim. It should work a charm.

P38 spares look to be the best option, now to find them... I'd like steel wheels because it'll be a set of tyres purely for playing (with some Simex knock-off profile), and most P38 wheel designs make me puke, and those that don't are expensive and/or hard to find. elbekko
Following up on this, saw some BMW steel wheels not too far away, but they look really thin. Would they be up to taking a beating off-road? The search continues for P38 spares for now.
western
found these, they are in the 2nd parts link I posted earlier, but not shown in the diagram. RRC114560MUW http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php/225995/5163/road_wheel_steel_disco_td5 there are/were 3 part numbers. ANR5829 ANR3232 RRC114560MUW all are 7 inch wide x 16 inch diameter the first 2 are superseded by the RRC number.
elbekko
Looks like that's the one western. Just went to check, ANR5829 is what's written on mine.
