radius arm renewal

Recommended Posts

I wouldn't, frankly., The rear axle has some restraint provided by the A frame, but it'll still move out of position. The front axle has no such restraint, you'll find it doing the splits. Better off doing one end at a time and leaving it on the axle stands.

Front axle will move backwards, whether or not it's on the ground, so refitting the arms requiring leverage/swearing/inventive use of a jack or ratchet straps. Back axle isn't so bad, but you still have to lever it to get the bolt holes lined up. It's the same if you do them one at a time, so taking all 4 off will make little difference. I would do it with wheels off the ground though, as moving an axle is easier than moving an entire vehicle.

With the front (just done it today) its best to leave one arm on , whilst you do the other , as the front axle tries to rotate ,and moves horizontally which means jacking diff and pulling rearwards at same time . The rear is not so problematic, just needs pulling (ratchet strap) to pull back into position HTSH
