heath robinson
I've used the yellow job, and as said above, was thoroughly unimpressed - spend the extra £20 if you really want a hydraulic one.
jackmac
Well, I've bought the same crimper as Mutley. I've tried it on a 35mm cable and a 50mm cable. Quite disappointed really. The 35mm didn't look a great crimp, and indeed I pulled it apart without too much effort. The 50mm was a joke, the crimper hardly marked the terminal at all - it's totally the wrong size. I need to do some 70mm cable next, I think that might be more successful given that when I compared the 50mm die to the 70mm die there was virtually no difference in size. To get a good crimp I've had to use the next size down very carefully, rotating round the crimp. However, after doing this it does actually produce a good crimp - I've cut one of them open to check and there was no air gaps etc. Not bad enough to send back as I can make it work, but I hoped for better. Anderzander
As a budget alternative - I bought one of the manual ones, like this : https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00O9XNKE2/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_Ooyxvb1KPH907 I paid less than the linked one though it's the same type - and it's been very good. zardos
I don't think you can beat http://www.thetoolboxshop.com/0-703-80-heavy-duty-crimp-tool-for-cable-terminals-10mm2-to-120mm2-1015.html for quality of crimps, but not cheap.
