Simon_CSK
I am just finishing rewiring my transporter trailer with LED lights. The trailer originally had red outrigger lights on a flexible rubber stalk above the main lights. Is this a legal requirement? The trailer is an IFOR CT 177. western
IIRC front & rear marker lights are dependent of the trailer width, Trailers manufactured after 1 October 1985 which are more than 1600mm wide, (except boat trailers) require front position lamps (clear lens). Certain trailers must have side position lights which show white to the front and red to the back. In addition, trailers over certain lengths must have amber side reflectors. Simon_CSK
The trailer is 17ft long and 7ft wide. I have a front white marker and three amber side markers. This is a rubber arm that extends out the side with red at the back and white at the front.
Fatboy
Simon, I've also got a CT177 and it doesn't have lights on rubber arms. Mine are all fixed to the steel frame. There are four white lights on the front and three ambers down each side.
Arjan
Ask IW - they should know how to comply with the Approval given to the trailer. Will save you a lot of problems perhaps..

Bowie69
This is pretty comprehensive: http://uk-trailer-parts.co.uk/trailer-lighting-rules-regulations-and-requirements I checked up on requirements when I converted a caravan trailer to a large box, made sure I did what was needed.
