The other day stereo stopped working but flickered aswell as the clock wouldn't hold memory .

started looking for problem found out interior lights weren't working eather checked all fuses still nothing

Unplugged door light switches clock started working bad earth?

Checked for power at stereo and there 12v very puzzled at this point

Did some research found mfu could be the problem so changed that as well as fuse board still no joy

Connected stereo straight to battery nothing happens ? (Swapped stereo for another that the same?)

Any one come across this an have any ideas any welcome

I was asking if these symptoms were with ignition on or off...cos if it was with ignition on the problem could be from the ignition feed, the radio needs a permannent feed and an ignition feed to work so will do the clock lighting...so even if the main feed and earths are good if the ignition feed makes tricks that's what happens

94' 300Tdi will have under bonnet fusebox, ign+ to radio white/green(from memory!) Coul be rad harness yellow as that seems to also be std colour.

there are earths everywhere on the bulkhead, you could always add a new one, can never have enough earths!

This sounds like a bit of dodgy wiring I've seen before where someone mistakes a switched live, say lights, for an earth and things blow or stop working when you turn things on. I'd remove the stereo and check everything else, as that is the site of a lot of crimes against wiring...
