simonr
I'll share this with you - because you're my friends. This is one of the most useful documents I've ever found on line! http://www.mwdropbox.com/Dropbox/Thread_info_text_format.txt It lists virtually every thread you will ever come across along with enough info to identify it. It even has watch threads!
mmgemini
The idea.... I have a Record DML lathe.... I looked at the Proxxon db250 Micro Woodturning Lathe but I didn't like it. SO Proxxon do a nice small 3 jaw chuck 27026 which I'd like to use on my Record lathe. That way I should be able to do the minature work as well as the full size stuff. I seem to remember that the Record uses a No 1 Morse taper in the headstock. Is it possible to do what I'm thinking ?
ejparrott
Anything is possible!! The only thing that would concern me is whether the 1MT would hold the chuck secure without a drawbar through the spindle, but that then reduces your ability to hold long stock

Three inches would be long...
ejparrott
If you're not worried about stuff going up the spindle then I'd be looking to put a drawbar in then. 1MT isn't very big at all, it's load holding abilities can be dubious.
mmgemini
Rightly or wrongly I've ordered this little chuck. It should be alright for some of the smaller stuff http://www.rdgtools.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000001.pl?WD=340989&PN=65MM-3-JAW-LATHE-CHUCK-WITH-A-1-MORSE-TAPER-SHANK-340989%2ehtml
