sixfeetofmud
Got a swivel from a early disco and everything fits good except the top swivel pin looks different for a abs sensor I believe . can I just use the defender swivel pin instead . it looks different . sixfeetofmud
So opened it up looks like its a different set up ? Thrust bearings instead of tapers ? Why is this different ?
Bowie69
Disco went to taper... they just did, pretty sure defender stayed Railko bushing for a while after. What age Defender?

sixfeetofmud
The defender one I took off is taper on both sides . the new disco one is the other type I guess .
Bowie69
Just looked, no, you can't mix and match, you need to use the pin with the swivel it is designed for.
IanT90
Just replaced n/s swivel on my 95 300tdi that was taper. Not sure if they are interchangeable check the specs for both swivels or measure with micrometer if you have one. If they match just drift out old races and buy set of new pins top and bottom with matched races for a taper roller set up. Just thinking off top of my head maybe railko was used to allow for abs sensor set up on the disco don't have enough knowledge to know if there is a taper roller set up for the top pin which accomodates an abs.
