white90
I'm adding a nother fuse box to supply the heated seats/rear charging sockets plus expansion for future any tips? I have purchased a fuse box and intend to run a decent size cable to the fuse box on the bulkhead behind the passenger seat then wire one side of the fuse box in series so I can feed the new items from the other side once fuses are installed. this will let me tidy the wiring currently in place and have less connections on the battery itself. the charging will have independant switching the heated seat are already installed/working so it will just be a re routing of the wiring. I'll do some pics as I go.
Les Brock
Tony, Make sure you fuse the new feed to the fuse box with a 40-60 Amps fuse mounted close to the battery ! not.... a granny sucking eggs comment
white90
Can't I make fuse 1 the 40amp then extend the other side in series to provide the power for the other ccts?
western
You could, but the cable run from the battery +ve terminal to the fusebox will be unproteced better to protect as much wiring as possible, I must add an additional fusebox to my 110 for my ham radios. white90
that would only be 2ft long. out of the battery box up through the seat box and staight into the fuse box. it will be double insulated cable. does that sound ok Les/Ralph
western
Sounds OK, but 2 ft of cable can get very hot if anything goes wrong, think I'd go with a fuse at the cable to battery connection, and not have to worry about it
Niall_CSK
out of the battery box up through the seat box and staight into the fuse box I would fuse it as near to the supply as Les says, every time you go through a panel, even if it's properly grometted, there is always the chance it will get damaged. If that happens you won't need the heated seats
