brainbrawn
Hello. My Freelander1 2001 V6 auto has developed a gearbox fluid leak, along with a coolant leak.I have read somewhere this could be a cooler problem. Is this correct and if so,where is this cooler,is it an easy fix or do I need to remove the gearbox/engine?I am able to do any repairs under the vehicle, but to remove a gearbox and/or the engine is too big a job.I have seen prices of approx £2000 for a gearbox and I paid less than this for the whole vehicle!!Thanks for any help. FridgeFreezer
The cooler is a round plate that bolts to the side of the gearbox and has water channels in it - they rust and you get coolant mixing with transmission fluid. Never done the job myself but doubt it'd be too horrible to do, check the RAVE manuals for instructions.
