munkymush
hi ive got a 300tdi that has been converted from edc to mechanical pump, ive just read that it should have the injectors to match this pump? how do i identify if ihave the correct ones fitted? it seems to run ok but ive never been over impressed with the power of it .. especially when towing ..what symptons do ya get if running mechanical pump with edc injectors.. thanks
Boydie
I don't think that there is any difference, the EDC pump mealy has an electronic control whereas the mechanical is just that, mechanical. What weight are you towing? When did you last have your engine tuned ? My 300Tdi also doesn't like towing, it's hardly a speed merchant when its not towing but a slug when it is, but it's only a 2.5 litre and a heavy weight but it's very economical. western
Disco 300tdi injectors for EDC or EGR fitted engines in here item 6 just click on the + to open the info, where is has 12L that means not for 200tdi engines. http://www.allbrit.de/UNI.cfm?PAGE=801487&SPRACHE=EN#6 I suspect there isn't much if any difference in the actual injector settings. dave88sw
As far as i know, the only difference is one injector on the edc has a sensor within it and therefore has a wire to it, it does work just the same as the standard injectors though so there is no trouble if it's disconnected. The EDC was added mostly to autos because the auto box sapped the power, this could be why you think it is sluggish. You could try tweaking the injector pump to get a little more power, a lot of people go overboard and end up with lots of smoke but there is potential for a useful increase in power without ruining the fuel consumption or making MOT emissions tests difficult.
