300tdi - Thick grey smoke from exhaust?

Recommended Posts

duff batch of contaminated deisel? ie water in the underground holding tanks. Has it happened on more than 1 tankful, if not then maybe time for some higher cetane deisel to help it along, or try another garage.

Also disconnect the intecooler/turbo hose next time, then try it . maybe the seals have gone, and its trying to eat its own oil when hot..

I've got a Defender that has been doing this for over a year now, and cannot find the problem. It has done 40.000 kilometers running this way now. No problem at all, but still would like to get rid of the smoke 😞

Is the smoke white and smelling of diesel fuel or is it blue/grey smelling of oil? They point to either something not quite right with the fueling or burning oil from either general engine wear or maybe an accumulation of oil in the intake system.
