GW8IZR
I'm considering having a set of wheels for my -summer- tyres on the 90, the rim width of my existing steels is 6.5 inches which does seem to limit choice of tyre a little. I have always fancied some of the ZU alloys and today there also seem to be some copies. Are any of the pattern parts ok, any problems with them? I've seen a steel version which is interesting (cheap) but that makes also me worry about quality, any comments? TIA
Reiny
The original version of what we now know as Zu alloys was a steel rim. They were called Mach 5 at the time.
GW8IZR
I thought the original steel version never got approval for road use, I remember seeing them in about 1990, maybe later, in the Hill Rally and I remember some discussion about whether they were legal for the road sections. I guess those rims are mainly just a memory now and the current ones are all approved. So still like to know if there are any brand differences worth the extra. There is quite a delta between Devon 4x4 and for example what Paddocks are offering for, what @looks@ to be the same product yet from past experience price is not always the best guide
