I've just done mine fitting an Ashcroft ATB differential.

Read my thread on my removal, overhaul and re-install to give you some idea of what you will be up for, if you have a half decent workshop/shed, a hydraulic press and a set of hydraulic pullers you can manage it quite easily. Choose your bearings wisely, I went for Timken all through with genuine LR oil seals, spacers etc.

Hardest part was getting it back onto the R380 without messing up the input oil seal. Use the long studs!

Yes, I rebuilt mine, fitted the HD cross pin in the diff along with new gears and thrust washers as well as a cross drilled input shaft. Relatively straight forward although I did read the manual a few times. Also handy to have access to a dial type torque wrench for the crush bearing as a standard click ones won't do.

I bought the master rebuild kit iirc, it's done a good few thousand miles with no issues
