need4speed
Just wondering what pipe fits onto what heater matrix pipe. Regarding pipes 6 & 22 in the above image which one goes to the heater matrix pipe closest to bulkhead etc?
western
you didn't bother reading the parts list text then, cos it tells you which pipe does which job, link again below go to here http://www.allbrit.de/UNI.cfm?PAGE=750501&SPRACHE=EN item 6 states heater feed item 22 states heater outlet [which is the return pipe to engine]
need4speed
No I did read it Ralph. Just couldn't decide which was the feed and which was the return at the matrix. A picture says a thousand words but the diagram doesn't show which pipe goes where..
dangerous doug
Might be a silly question but..... Does it matter? It's just a baby rad isn't it? could you not get a rough idea by identifying the feed hose and tracking it on google images? A quick search suggests it's the one furthest away. need4speed
In all honesty mate I don't know if it matters or not. I just try to get things the way they were intended in order to try and avoid any potential problems.. So you reckon the feed (item 6) goes to the matrix pipe furthest away from the bulkhead yes? need4speed
Yeah the only thing with that is they are American. Which means the matrix is the other way round seeing as the heater is on the other side no?
western
different engine, on my tdi the return from heater to engine is connected to heater matrix rear stub pipe & inlet [hot coolant] to the forward stub pipe, I don't think having it the other way matters to the heater output. Inigo
Found some pics of my V8 engine bay as it was when I received it. Previous owner added an additional heater for the rear seats and an LPG vaporiser, so not sure they necessarily went back on the same way. Also heat output from engine bay into cabin varied between boiling and roasting, so not sure if that means it was working properly or not. Ash.Witty
The hot pipe from the inlet manifold goes to the front pipe on the matrix and the rear pipe from the matrix goes to the thermostat/lower hose.
