western
do a search for --- 20tdi dipstick in the defender forum & tech archive, there's lots of info & tech archive includes the LR tech bulletin, they issued a few years ago.
steve b
They are held with a compression olive , iirc 10mm ID . Without a ref length I'd set by doing an oil change and fill with the correct amount of oil and set using as the max level . The old olive can be removed using a junior hacksaw . cheers Steveb

marktdi
Just found a link western on an old thread that you added for lr series for a new genuine tube .I think that will be my best option Thanks again
western
you can reuse the existing tube, I removed mine, moved the olive up the tube & increased the tube bottom diameter by pushing on to a pair of closed long nose pliers enough to expand the flared end, shoved the olive & nut back to the measurement as in the tech bulletin & it's been fine since, did this about 10 years ago.
