HoSS
No not a blown up V8 but something new... http://vid.carbuzz.com/its-about-time-someone-improved-on-the-combustion-engine/?utm_source=311 Most interesting.
Daan
A bit like a hydraulic pump. Looks to me that the losses of all those moving parts are a bit high, but I suppose there are no camshafts.
pat_pending
That's been around for a while, it's still internal combustion. I'm afraid the future is electric.
02GF74
So the bores must spin round, that must use power, how is it sealed at the top?
Ally V8
That is very old, there was a very similar if not identical engine in the old Bristol Industrial museum until it was "Improved" and became the M-Shed. About 90% of the interesting exhibits disappeared,(Always wondered where they went...) including what I want to call the swash plate engine. I bet you would find something similar in the Science museum stores in the hangars at RAF Wroughton near Swindon...
timppl
Agree with Ally V8, I seem to remember reading about aero engines like like around the time of WW1. WRT the eccentroc cam drive, our kitchen mixer works like that only the other way around ( concentric motor with wibbly output ) ( hope that is not too technical :-) ) Tim
Troll Hunter
Wiki covers axial engines here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axial_engine and the Duke engine is covered.
