stephencdavies
I'm a bit confused. i thought all clutch pedals were spring assisted. the early ones had a long spring connected to the pedal and bulkhead. the later ones had a coil spring fitted on the pedal to pedal box. which model are you talking about. defender dinky
I think its the tdci one its got spring fitted to pedal and pedal box theres a bolt on the back on the bottom some kind of adjuster
stephencdavies
if its just the pedal assembly you want to change. then i'd just try and remove the master cylinder from the pedal box and refit the same one without disturbing the pipes. else you'll be in the realm of bleeding the clutch. it'll very tricky. i'm assuming you've bought a complete pedal box long with it master cylinder to swap out for an updated one. if you just wanted the newer style spring, you could have done just that. most 200Tdi clutch pedals have the cut out for the newer spring. defender dinky
its the old td clutch pedal at the moment the pedal arm is a U shape rather than a solid bar don't mind bleeding just wondered if I could swop the masters over thks
stephencdavies
has the one you bought got the side feed for brakes and top feed for pressure switch. if so you might be able to swap them over.
stephencdavies
ok, it sound like you done what i did last year. i had the old Tdi thicker clutch pedal that's supposed to have a return spring on it. i fitted the later pedal box with the smooth, easier spring on. looks like a snail for want of a better description. i would ditch the master that came with the pedal box and either fit your own one as its tried and tested, but if you're going to all the bother, why not fit a new master and slave. you're going to be bleeding the system anyway. this will save you a job in the future. defender dinky
it has side feed for the clutch and a pressure switch on top
western
I'm assuming you've got this type [300tdi onwards] http://www.albrit.de/UNI.cfm?PAGE=757393&SPRACHE=EN it's a easy retrofit, my 110 [also a ex-TD] has had one since mid 94, reckon you've picked up a Td5 assembly, the adaptor & pressure switch can be replaced by the original TD adaptor. going by your description of master cylinder see item 19 in http://lrcat.com/#30/4/45161 thats for 2007 Onwards vehicles. defender dinky
I took pressure switch off (Circled), side fluid feed came off with it (copper washers etc). If I take the one off TD clutch will it fit straight on? See photos:
stephencdavies
i recon it would. looking at the replacement td5 master cylinder is doesnt have a side feed. it looks the same as all the early ones. take the adapter off your old unit and use that.
