1986RRCV85SPD
After 4 months of no use at all I decided to fire up my RRC 3.9V8. it had not been started or even touched at all in the time it was sitting. I started it, turned over twice and fired up and ran fine, other than a horrible ticking from the Engine. I changed the Oil and started it again with a noticeable change in the ticking. I have striped the top off the engine and found a damaged lifter. as in the bottom being punched up? Is there any reason this will happen? as the lifters where new 2 years ago.
Bowie69
Got a photo? What does the cam lobe look like?
Shackleton
Had a cam follower disintegrate on a remanufactured Mercedes V8 engine some years back. The engine had been done by professionals and it was maybe 5k miles later on a long run it let go. After the fix the remanufacturer put it down to simply a bad lifter.
