Shanrad
I just found that the idle stepper reading is 0% when warm. is this odd? its a new stepper but maybe its faulty
FridgeFreezer
The ECU doesn't read the stepper, that value is simply where it thinks it's put it. At startup / shutdown it sends enough "steps" to the stepper to hit the end-stop (fully closed), then it knows if it sends a given amount of steps back the other way it should be open by that much. There's no feedback from the stepper, it's just a dumb motor.
