DC_
I've had a search and can't find anything to satisfy what I'm after, I've got a map light on the dash as I'm sure many of you have and know about. New bulbs arrived today, so out I go all gidddy to fit one, wow, what a fiddly job that was !! So,after putting the new one in I then thought, "how do you actually switch it on?" So that's what I'm after guys, looking forward to getting it working ?
western
Does it look like this one http://www.mod-sales.com/auction/vehicle/related/68486/Land_Rover_Westair_Map_Light_.htm if Yes the switch is the black toggle on left of first photo
DC_
Ralph no it's not this one, 12v, my Photobucket is playing funny buggers so can't upload a pic. It's small with a hatch type centre bit.
DC_
It's one like this http://www.handhsurplus.co.uk/product/land-rover-military-defender-90110-dash-hella-map-reading-light-bracket/
western
does the cover for the bulb opening move, I'm thinking it has a internal switch the cover operates when opened/closed. doesn't look to be any external switch.
pete3000
yes roll the flap up and it should light. as long as it has power....think it is connected behind the centre 6 way switch.
DC_
Hmmm, which one of the 6 selector switch activates it?..... if it's activated with the "flap", what part connects and disconnects? I'll get a better look at the weekend, and more time to research, I'll try a few "lamps" (that's a job!!) and I'll have a look at fuses, I haven't got round to looking into the convoy light yet...... maybe they're linked? western
that light just needs a 12v power feed & a earth path, Doubt it's connected to any other lights,
