Bell Housing cant be got and the input shaft wont fit. Game Over. Ah well worth a try ! Stuck with the Lt77 unless I decide to change engines !
-
Checked the Ashcroft website and they say all R380s are the same bar the gearing is higher for a V8 ?!
I was led to believe there were 2 different types for the V8 and the 300TDI etc. So might be just a case of changing the TOE bearing and the Bell Housing from the LT77 !
I have an R380 from a Disco Im breaking for parts so might end using this as it seems to be in good nick with no crunches etc. Fingers crossed anyway !

??????
When your stuck and you want to go from 1st to Reverse really quickly the LT77 is a pain the arse with the Reverse top left !
-
Its the Reverse on the top left that annoys me. Off roading its a pain in the arse and as I have the body off and everything getting re done id rather do it all now while its off.

I still have the LT77 with its bellhousing that I got with engine so I could change that too. Just need to know what difference of R380 is an input shaft length etc.
Lt77 was rebuilt but I dont like reverse top left. Will the V8 R380 be the same ratio as the 300TDI R380 ?
Cheers for the reply !

Hi Lads,
As above.
Doing a full rebuild at the mo and getting the Chassis dipped this week. Will need the engine etc back in to make space ASAP but I want to change the LT77 for an R380.. Just need to confirm which one I need as I've been told theres 2 different V8 types.
Also gonna dump the Borg warner Transfer Box and get one from a Disco 300tdi. Will the ratios with the V8 R380 be the same as the 300tdi R380 ?
CheersAndy

What happens if you paint it with the likes of Raptor Bed Liner etc ?
Im getting my chassis back from Galv today hopefully and was gonna use the Raptor stuff as it will bend with the chassis when off road !
