  1. You want to take out the one under the dash. ;)

I can't speak for a Disco, but on my Defender the after market revcounter stopped working when I pulled the fuse. As a DII has a rev counter as standard, I guess chances are it won't be affected.

You will get the warning lights offcourse, both the ABS one and the general brake/handbrake warning (again, info from a Defender). The latter can be a bugger if you forget to release the handbrake...

But I suggest you just go and try it, and report back. Nothing serious can go wrong.

Slightly off topic, I found out yesterday (when almost missing a turn on a wet road) that the P38a's ABS continues to function even with the warning on and one sensor badly knackered!

    cool

    will test

  2. The above links will no longer work as I lost that hosting space

    Please use MicroLaunch Executable

And when I am sure of the hosting I will repost the source code.

Note: there have been no major changes, except it is now built with VS2005 and likely requires .NET 2 because of this.

    Hi Steve,

I know you posted this more than a year ago but I would very much like to get this working. I have installed Microcat but and followed all your instruction however I keep seeing the error: "This version of Microcat you are running is out of date and will not continue to run"

I would be very grateful if you could update the link above. I clicked on it but didn't take me to the file.

    Thanks a lot,

  3. Right,

There are three ABS fuses according to my owners manual.

Two in the fuse box in the engine compartment (ABS pump & ABS valve) and one under the dash.

So there are side effects? :(

    Thanks,

  4. Hi all,

In normal conditions when I deactivate the alarm (original from fabric) it beeps 2 times.

Since some days ago, when I deactivate the alarm it beeps 4 times.

I was looking at the Owner's Manual but did not find anything about the number of beeps.

I am pretty sure it means something so I was wondering if any of you guys has had the same issue.

Could it be some serious electrical issue? or it's simply that the battery of the handset is about to die?

    I would appreciate any insight.

    Thanks,

  5. Welcome to the forum, from your spelling I guess you are in the US/Canada ? If you are then your 96 Disco will be running Gems so you should be able to get an OBD scanner off the net/E-bay which will work.If it is not NAS spec,ie running the 14 CUX system then you have a problem. There are only a few options open to you,the cheapest being from Black box solutions. They sell on the net but seem to change product names /specs quite often. The other options are alot more money, probably not worth it for a single car.

    Thanks Ally,

    I am in Costa Rica.

How do I find out if my Disco is a 'NAS spec' or '14 CUX'?

    Thanks,

  6. Hi all,

    Does anybody have a Discovery 96 SE7 (4.0 liter, V-8 engine)?

I would like to buy an OBD Reader for my Disco '96 and I was wondering if you could help me to get the right one.

Should I be looking for an OBD or OBD-II Reader?

Which of these OBD protocols does my car use?

    J1850 PWM

    J1850 VPW

    ISO9141-2 (KWP 1281)

    ISO14230-4 (KWP 2000)

    Thanks a lot,
