The plate Ive got was sold to me by paddocks as a 130 plate is 235mm in diameter and the only numbers i can see on it apart from the date is 367739

Ive got a plate somewhere I'll try and find it over the weekend and see if there are any numbers and get some measurements.

If you're going to use a tractor ring hitch check that it fits the nato hitch. I was going to make a solid towing bar and none of the rings we use at work will fit a nato hitch.

Might be obvious but leave the clutch out when you mock it up. It makes it a lot easier to bolt the engine to the gearbox.

I remember being told a company called Wrington Engineering made wheel nuts. Not sure if theyre still going.

I quite like the cheepo tiger ones. I've tried more expensive ones but they all last about the same amount of time. Being cheeper they're a little bit thinner so its easier to feel the filler.

It looks like the strip that holds the door seal is missing.

Just watch what you're paying. I rebuilt a series gearbox/transfer box recently and my local bearing place wanted £120 for a timken bearing that I could get from all the usual places in the same timken box but with a bearmach sticker on for about £35.

Yeah its got instructions how to use it but a colour swatch type thing would have been nice for dummys like me. Like you say it looks greener but could still be blue if that makes sense. Anyway I tried it again this morning and it turned almost Land Rover green. The header still had water in but the plug in the thermostat housing took half a gallon!

Cheers gents. Looks like i'll just keep an eye on it and see if I really am loosing water. Its been idling a bit lumpy for a while and for the past week my cheapo chinese exhaust gas temp guage is showing hotter temps so i'm getting paranoid about things.

I've got a 86" If you're really stuck I can run it up your way. Its not very standard but everythings in almost the right place.

I've done just that. It will all fit but you will need the spacer as well. Will measure it tomorrow for you.

Is there anything stopping you using all the Discovery rods and bolting the damper on the diff nose? I want to do the same and have a scrap Disco to pinch the bits from.

If its the universal32 engine/hydraulic/gearbox type stuff. Some engines I've used it in like to drink it but its cheep enough to just keep topping them up.

I run 235/85r16 on my 300tdi Disco its made the gearing a bit too tall to tow nicely.

Just 2 or 3 good hits with a sharp chisel usually splits the nut. No need to drill or grind anything first.

you can have 60% of wheel base past back wheel, so that will be about 55" past the centre of the back wheel.
Where would i find the regs for the overhang? Im about to do the same.

There was "terra-tagging" or something going on a week ago. Had a farmer come into work for a bit of welding and he was moaning about how dirty his tractor got towing stuck things out of holes.
