thanks guys for the input
It's still not sorted, there is plenty of fuel from lift pump ( i checked chassis filter) and plenty to banjo on pump
when I remove screw from end of pump at centre of injector pipes there is fuel but it doesn't appear to be under pressure and i'm not sure if this is significant
and no fuel at 4 pump outlets, i've found a breakdown scematic of pump but can't see what could be the problem
Does anyone have experience of possible faults/ breakages of pump internals?
I'm loathe to take pump off at this stage as it's a big job and my old series 3 is doing what's absolutely necessary

thanks dave88sw but surely i wouldn't be getting fuel pumping from lift pump

Are you talking about the plate on block side of injection pump as i believe that houses the timing spring
or do you mean the lift pump, and as it pumps fuel to injection pump it can't be that
cheers

Thanks, good idea, i hadn't realised there was a hole behind compressor belt adjuster

Hope somebody can help
After cutting out and not able to restart ( it cranks fine)no diesel at injectors, i thought it has to be stop solenoid so removed security block and wired it direct still no go, so removed solenoid and took out plunger and refitted it and guess what, still no diesel to injectors, so to recap I have fuel out of filter when cranked, at injection pump banjo when cranked also with stop solenoid removed diesel pumps out ok and at bleed screw at centre of the 4 injector pipes at back of pump,so how come I get diesel to this point but not out to injectors?
I'm starting to think something expensive has happened to pump, any ideas?
300 tdi cut out and won't restart

Thanks for all the input
I'll try the injector cleaner, nothing to lose
Having done the waterpump and timing belt a year ago,i was hoping for a miracle cure !
It does seem pump is the problem and like you guys I'll do pretty much anything but strip an injection pump ,errrr no
It'll have to wait as I can't afford a recon one and am reluctant to put an unknown secondhand one on with the work involved
I'd still like to hear from somebody who has some knowledge of what he possible pump failure might be
Anyway Merry Christmas to all
Cheers
