  1. Thanks for that, interesting stuff. Have ordered some Neutra Rust 661 which gets a brill. write up in this months L.R.O. mag, anyone tried it? Does it go on easily? Sounds the business.

I use Neutra Rust 661 and can thouroghly recommend it, very easily applied, very liquid so runs into the crevises, actually needs rust to activate, and can be painted over direct with either waxoil underseal, hammerite or paint,

used it on a Very Rusty Rover P6 sold said vehicle 3 years later and still very much rust bubble free,

I do not work for the company I hasten to add........................... :P

Still using it on my Landy........................1 litre goes a long way...................

Used on North sea oil rig Legs apparently

  2. Hi Guys,

Only having my Landrover 1 week I am unsure what oils to use,

I am OK with the filler/level plugs but do not know what grade oils to use in the................

    Engine,

    Gear Box,

    Transfer Box,

    Diffs,

    Front Hubs,

My Landy is a 1974 series 3 Light Weight FFR

    Any help would be appriciated

  3. Thanks Guys,

Checked my hubs, As Phil says I have the flat flanges as oppossed to the tin caps, don't know if this gives you any pointers as to whether they are 10 or 24 spline ends,

After listening to you're debate whether to fit them or not I have decided to give them a miss,

    Thanks for your input..............

  4. Hi Guys,

I have just purchased a 1974 series 3 Light weight and would like to fit free wheeling hubs to the front, I am looking at 2 different sellers on fleabay one is selling 10 spline fwh and one is selling 24 spline fwh and I am unsure which the vehicle has, can any one help me,

    Many thanks

  5. Interesting development, brake fluid in the steering box will make the seals swell as the rubber/fluid criteria is different. Hence the leak cure, all right on a road going vehicle.

I am a Licensed aircraft engineer can I try this on a Boeing 747.................

    Awaiting your informative replies...............

Are you flying on my aircraft......................

  6. Hi Guys,

Went to see the L/R today and am afraid to say it was a bit of a shed, from chassis down all was good, unusual to say that,

But bulkhead, doors, roof all suffered from lack of use(been parked up 4 years) the Vm diesel lacked power and would not rev above 2500 and smoked probably why it hadn't had an Mot in 4 years,

pity really as it had a interesting bit of history to it,

Made a pitiful offer on it as I would really like to re-engine it to a motor better suited, up to him now,

Thanks for advice and especially "mpb" for letting me have the workshop manual,

See you on the Muddy Stuff.... :P :P :P

  7. Do you know if the VM engine used a L/R Gearbox and bell housing, and did the VM pick up on the existing engine mounts,

If cheap enough I am thinking of re-engineing,

What would be a good alternative 200/300 tdi V8/V6

  8. Hi Guys,
