Many years ago I had a set of O/R's - NEVER again, they were rubbish.
However, other people seem to get on with them, but their overall diameter is small and ground clearance compromised so if you are in soft mud not long before you have grounded and then it's time for a rope
I use BFG MT's 255/85/R16 for tarmac, greenlaning and weekend offroading. Anything more serious and I fit something more aggressive than the MT's.
MT's are good in the wet on tarmac, have long service life, good in mud and sand, just so good you need a set

o and is there anyone in africa that would like to meet and travel with us for a bit
A few of us did South Africa Into Saziland and up into Mozambique and back to Durban two years ago ,Best advice for borders is lots of photo copies never hand over originals, always be polite and dont lose your rag/argue the toss big smiles help, take sun glasses off when talking to officials ,Fill up with fuel at every opportunity -petrol seems to be prefered fuel , and know how your vehicle works -we got stuck in sand until the natives came and got us out later we found out all we had to do was click in the free wheeling hubs into the lock position , dont drive at night as the road is full of locals walking about sometimes drunk ,if you come across an accident dont stop !!!!! youll get the blame . Otherwise have a great time ,Oribi gorge ,Durban , Hlane ,Imhanbane ,Tofu And Sodwana bay are well recommended cheers Richie

HI all Finally got round to taking the plunge, followed the advice re BFG M/t's in the standard Landrover size , very very impressed -not much more noise than the General Grabbers and they seem to be better in the wet at the moment .Lots of grip on the road and the icy conditions of North Yorkshire ,cant wait to play in the mud this weekend .Thanks for the recommendation cheers Richie
