It is the face lifted fl1, I guess an FL1.5? Still has the super handy triangular recess on the dash though!
On the subject of ATs, I do roughly 1000 miles a week, mostly motorway. So the plan is to keep road tyres on the 17s for week time use and swap the wheels at the weekends. It's ~£500 for a set of 5 steelies with Insa's on - I tried one with MTs before I got mine and after 4 hours on the motorway the noise would start to grate ?

Fair disclosure though, on closer inspection it was only just over a foot deep so not exactly extreme off-road ?

Glad you're in love with it, I only picked my TD4 up on Wednesday so I fully understand your enthusiasm!
Looking to get some ATs and steelies on her double time, and then get out and about with the family. Though I'm contemplating preemptively replacing the VCU first as she's on 102k
I did go out for a little bimble to Okehampton Ranges today with my 4 year old and as you can see we found somewhere for a little bit of a mini adventure!

The first Landy I ever went in (and that started my passion) many years ago was our next door neighbours Series with a similar top when we lived in Stubbington. I think we went with them to pick it up, blue if I recall but it was a good 25 years ago...
I'm sure I remember them calling it a dormobile - which seems to tie up as there is a dormobile that make lifting roofs for landys. I wonder if they're still around!

Funnily enough I'm looking at planning the exact same thing with my kids, though probably even less adventurous with a Freelander, and a 4 year old and 6 year old... Will follow this closely, as my initial cursory research hasn't led to too much result yet.
Mind you I only got her a few days ago!

Since I didn't necrothead this one - I've got an 07 auto, and my last tank netted me 46.7mpg, which was a pleasant surprise, especially as I'm still trying to convince the mrs to let me keep it and losing 20mpg from my 1.6 tdci ford wasn't helping my case....
Of little help to OP as he probably fixed his problem 6 years ago, but there's three things that I found have made a real difference to mpg. Since this is currently high up the post list hopefully this will help someone!
- Sit at 60 on the motorway. I drive from Devon to London 2-3 times a week. I always sat at 80 in the ford. Even the extra urban cycle is averaged at 75. Dropping to 60 (hell even sitting at 55 beyond a lorry if you're not in a hurry) makes a massive difference, as its not an aerodynamic car and it takes a lot of energy to keep at it 4/5ths of its top speed. It adds about 5-10 minutes tops on my 4 hour drive...
- Tyre pressures - it was only a few mpg difference but every little helps, check them cold and make sure they're correct.
- Plan ahead. Don't sit up the chuff of the car in front. Hang back, loom well ahead, and react to things early so you can gently ease on and off rather than mashing the brakes and the throttle like you're dogfighting the Red Baron. Plus you Won't be causing a tailback a mile down the road as the car sat up your chuff has to jump on his brakes and so on and so on until someone's had to come to a halt.

I THINK Bell Engineering will do the recon IRD's for ~£700 too.
I'm trying to decide whether to preemptively replace the VCU on mine, as it's a 100k Auto and I don't think it's ever been replaced - all the research I've done seems to suggest that Bell are the people to talk to.

Sounds perfect for a freebie then ?
I know there was one not far from Crealy, not researched if it's been tro'd or downgraded yet though. And there's plenty of not suitable for motors roads kicking around too - I got my company Sportage stuck in mud to the bottom of the door sills for a weekend until a friendly farmer from down the road dragged it out with his Massey.
