[Disco axle and engine swap]

Hi guys,

 

I have a lovely knocking and clunking sound on my 200tdi 1993 90. Brand new props and UJ's, however there's lots of play in both... (diff or transfer?). When I pull away it will clunk, if I'm driving and come off the accelerator it will sound like a bag of nails. 

 

I think it will be easier and cheaper to buy a v8 disco, swap both axles (rear discs is a bonus) and I nice v8 to finish it off. 

 

Will a disco2 take much modification for the axles? Or shall I stick with a d1? 

 

Unless someone can spot what the hell is going on underneath? Don't think it's a Aframe joint.
