Hi Forum Members, I have owned my 96 300tdi for last 7 years. I have recently been suffering the well discussed immobiliser issue where the car intermittently will not start. Lights come on but will not turn over. In my model the fix is supposed to be linked to the spider unit, either dry joint on board or fit bypass. Unfortunately my disco is not fitted with the spider unit. So my understanding is that the device is now an integral part of the Alarm ECU which is located under the glove box. On other forums fixes are discussed such as bridging the number 9 & 10 terminals on the ten pin connector but this apparently comes with issues such as central locking disabled. However no one so far has actually defined what the problem is with this ECU. Can anyone help with reasons for failure and/or other fixes.
