  1. Hello All

this may sound a bit weird but here goes..............

I have been running my 1997 FL as a 2 wheel drive ( ie without the prop ) for several years now without problem ( but better handling and MPG ) so the question is could I have the transfer box removed ? if so what would the result be and how could it be achieved - is there a conversion / blanking panel or is it a no go ?????

thoughts and advice gratefully recieved - insults and abuse are not ........ :-)

    cheers

  2. Hi Guys

wonder if you can help on this one - since I got my FL I have had to really B A N G the rear door in order for it to close it seems to strike the latch which in turn lifts the door slightly in order to close.

Q: how do I adjust the door / lock in order for it to close without needing to slam it ??

I have had a go at loosening the hinge bolts but there doesnt seem any play in them any ideas gratefully received

    regards

  3. Getting a bit peeeed off now lads - pls any advice most gratefully received.

one by one my door locks are starting to either jam, stick, struggle / not respond and now struggling to be opened from either side manually.

Have tried stripping cleaning and re-greasing ( although not quite sure how to get access to the guts.... ) in the process have managed to loose both rear ' pop ups ' but not worrying about them.....

are my lock solenoids going soft ?????

are my greased parts seizing due water ingress ????

is there a single earth or 12 v feed for all locks going high resistance ????

    any ideas

  4. Just out of curiosity have you tried firing up the new starter via jump leads whilst out of the engine ? Keep a good size 10 boot on it on the deck as you do and watch to see if the bendix actually engages to your green area that will prove the starter, cog, contacter and motor - if it does then either as previously stated wrong starter or goosed flywheel teeth

    regards

  5. Hi All

I am sure this is going to be a daft question but here goes......

I have just spotted on ebay someone selling a ' broken VC ' saying that repair parts are available on ebay to put them right.

Am I to understand that these things can be 'reconditioned' in some way and if so what would be required

Mine has seized and a recondition kit may be a better way to go than a 200 quid replacement

    all advice gratefully received

    cheers

  6. Hi People

can anyone pls point me in the right direction.

My chariot ( 1.8 K series) has been parked up for about a fortnight - put her to bed without any probs

Went to pull off the drive at the weekend and the foot brake went straight to the floor.......NO BRAKES !!!!!

No sign of any fluid loss

No sign of any holes in the servo or its pipes

Noticed a very faint attempt at braking when full weight is on the final couple of mil of pedel travel but no back pressure

    any clues gratefully investigated

    any hints gratefully received

    any advice gratefully followed

( other than scrap it ...)

    cheers

  8. Hi a few posts down from your insertion theres an article about 2 wd FLs. It might be worth taking out the prop shaft and seeing if mpg becomes more economical - furthermore if some kind soul points you in the direction of a good gas kit pls pass on info as I would also be very interested.

    regards

  9. I had a power loss problem - was going round in circles trying to find it - finally stripped down fuel pump took out filter and back flushed it with clean fuel - the carp that came out was UNBELIEVABLE - did this till it ran clean - reassembled and hey presto no probs since ( touch wood ) - took about 30 mins start to finish - would be worth doing even if it isnt the sole cause of your grief

    good luck

    B)
