  1. I bought the lights off ebay , £80 and £100 ,grill was £100. Fair bit of cutting for front panel, had to move crash sensors back for airbags, modify airbox, wiring was fairly easy (no faults on dash) Grill had to be shortened..............

    Nice work Kev,

can you let us know some more info on this? (Where you goyt the parts from, how much, what mods required etc. As much as you want to tell us basically!)

  2. I have disco on a 99 ,i have had it remapped and it makes a big difference,Just done an egr removal and removed middle box ,sounds great and seems to pull even better.I am waiting for my big intercooler to arrive and then i will be putting a stage 2 remapp into my ecu and fitting a turbo booster box so i can tun the boost up...

  3. Try unplugging aerial for alarm receiver, its located behind the parcel shelf trim near drivers side rear window. This will stop the vehicle picking up any random signals and waking the becm up.You might have to put the remote very near to the rear side window to unlock it....Also strip your fusebox down and inspect it for damage as stated by other guys.Clean all earth connections as well.......

  4. you need your fob code reading from the old becm unit to be able to use your existing remotes,to do this you have to unlock your becm and if the secondhand becm is locked you need to get it unlocked to program all your info on to that.

I have bought a good few becm,s off ebay and alot off them are in becm lockout mode( becm alarmed) the only way to remove the alarm is to have it unlocked with special software.

Your becm has to have all the option,s your car has set on it, ie ,gearbox type, engine type, key code, eka code, sunroof, etc, etc, etc

    Regards

  5. I did some work on a friends range rover it was over heating,it went to a garage and had the heads skimmed and new gaskets, when it came out of the garage it was still overheating.

I had a look at it changed the thermostat, still over heating,i had a spare radiator put that on ,Problem sorted...........

I would try your radiator first..

  6. Hello,

i have had both a Diesel P38 & V8 4.6.I am currently running the V8 and love it,it has the cats removed and sounds awesome,It also has 22 inch rims on it so looks good to.The diesel p38 was good as i had a plug in power box on it,the v8 hof power is brilliant,i would not go back to a diesel !

Here is a few things i would check if your thinking of getting a P38.

Check all electrics work, ,As any thing not working could be a problem with the becm (expensive to fix)

Check Hevac control is working and it does not have the book figure in the display (as this is a fault)Check the heater works properly as this could be the blend motors playing up(a pain to fix)

Check the air suspension works on the buttons properly(if you dont mind laying under the vehicle put the vehicle up to its highest setting and have a bottle with water and a bit of washing up liquid and spray round all the air bags as this will tell you if they are leaking)

If its a diesel and it has over 100,000 miles on it ask if the inboard fuel pump has been changed as they start to fail after that mileage and can lead to low fuel pressure when the fuel tank is on low level. Also warm the engine up to temp then switch it off to see how it starts(if it takes a while to start there is a mod you can do ,to make it easier to start when hot.

Then you can drive it ! to see how it drives, ask if the abs pump and air suspension pump has ever been changed .

    Cheers.............

  7. It does sound like the becm unit,i have just changed 2 becm units on Range Rover P38,s ..The first job is check your fusebox for burning or shorting out.

If you buy a used becm off ebay it will be locked so its has to be unlocked using special equipment.

You then need all the info reading off your becm and transferring to new becm,if you don,t know your fob code your becm will have to be unlocked as well.
