  1. My Ml before Towed really well. 2.7 diesel.

Cant recall what mp i was gettin with it while towin as i dont think my truck was ready and usable hense the lack of use.

    Was at yarwell at weekend.

so stuck to around 55mph /60mph and occasionally hit 70mph. naughty me hey.

But on the way up there i was using a47 so to behonest averaged at 55mph ,

Some people mention chipping it . would make a bi difference while towing, most people were stating i may get 100miles more to a tank while towing. although not sure i believe it.

Other thoughts were to buy a iveco or transit recovery truck, 55 plate ish. as i can use it for work but again not sure on consumption,

I guess i could hire one out for the day when i next use the 90' that way id have a good comparison to what mpg i would retain.

  2. What tow vehicles do people use.

    Currently i Have a D40 2005 Navara Manual,

Which pulls my 90 around on the trailer perectly fine, How ever fuel consumption is the killer.

None towing i get about 400miles from full to empty. 80ltr tank i think. which is exceptable.

BUT towing it drops to 200 miles a tank = Not good.

Is there anything that will be better than this love the truck , but transportation is a killer.

    Any ideas. upto £8000

  3. If there were Enough Deposits etc.

Would the guys not consider putting on the Next round on the understanding the minimum numbers are met,

WAS THERE EVEN LIKE A ROUND BY ROUND ENTRY POST- LIKE THE CHALLENGER/LRS/MUDMONSTERS. IF there was i apologise for asking.

I for one would Love to do this event and the rest of the remaining events.

    chris.

  4. Following much thought and discussion the committee of the All Wheel Drive Club has decided to reduce the number of rounds of the 2011 XL Challenge series, resulting in the cancellation of 3 of the original fixtures.

The key factors behind this decision are a decline in the number of competitors who are prepared to travel a significant distance to a one day event which in turn leads to reduced economic viability at the type of sites needed to challenge competitors at the top level of the sport. In addition reduced entry numbers do not provide the competitors who do take part with the sense of satisfaction at their achievements which we feel is essential at this level.

Mindful of these factors the 2011 XL Challenge will continue as a 5 round series with the best 4 results to count.

The remainder of the 2011 series will run as follows:

12 June - Wern Ddu, Corwen - Cancelled

14 August - Cowm Quarry, Whitworth - Cancelled

11 September - West Harptree, Avon - sponsored by Frogs Island 4x4

    9 October - Venue TBA - Cancelled

13 November - Slindon Safari - sponsored by Gigglepin 4x4

We apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause. Appropriate refunds will be made to competitors who have pre-entered the series or cancelled rounds.

Thats a real shame have always looked forward to the day i could compete in one of your events , and now the truck is finished was going to enter wern dud :(

Now i will have to wait till september to compete, so in turn i will look in to participating in another series :(

  5. When is the Entries open for Round 4 Of Xl. Challenge.

Really Fancy having a go at it . Never Entered it before so hopefully will be fun.

What licenses have i got to get?

I was a member of awdc, so i guess just a renewal. also what Open face helmet is best to get ?

    chris.

  6. I bought a set of Bogger pattern Fedima tyres from 28x4 which measure about 36.5"

The sidewalls are a bit stiff which is a mixed blessing. You have to air down to about 10 psi to make them flexible but they will run reasonably well with no air pressure at all (puncture or separated bead).

Best of all - they were fantastic value. Worth a look at the very least!

    Si

How long ago Did you get them, as they are showing out of stock on the website.

They were the tyres i originally wanted as, i really cant afford swamp boggers:(

Are they the ones that are 35's listed on the site?

  7. Im Planing on competing in a few events this year.

what tyres are recommend. i have at moment 285/75/16 inns turbo jobbies.

I was thinking ever a 35 or 37 ? anyone have any buying advice?

  8. Talking from Experience,

THose chips from chip express are really good.

I had one fitted to my td5 discovery, Cant say any bad words for them. made loads of difference in standard settings. and had the ability to adapt it for more power.

I then swapped it in for my ml270 chip. `fantastic Results.

Some People havnt got the time or don't live closer enough to those like td5 alive etc.

If you cant get out or have spare time Get one . I didn't regret it. and im sure you wont and if not they give a 14 day money back guarantee So everyones a Winner.

  9. I Found From own experiences,

Gas Heaters.....Far to expensive to run. Especially if you have a large space to heat.

Diesel Heater.. The only one i tried was an sip one. and that really left a horrible smell of diesel in the air.

If its used all the time .. Waste oil heater .

Iv got a thermobile at400- and its amazing, free heat, and even on its lowest setting its amazing although a little pricey at £2400 . my first year in business i was using gas bottles and after 2 months of going through so many bottles of gas i decided to freeze.. and froze in my second winter, Never looked back since spending out for the at400 :)

  10. CARLING HAZARD SWITCH.

Just fitted Carling hazard switch. can anyone confirm weather or not when you turn on hazards the switch should flash intime with the hazard lights.

My old switch flashed with the hazards. But with this new switch. the hazards all operate as they should.but no tell tale to say they are on apart from hearing the relay clicking in and out. ive checked all the wires on the switch and they all corrospond to where they should be.

iv tried a diffent relay. im Starting to think maybe it shouldnt flash

The light will light up when i have my lights on as it should.
