  1. hi guys,

    the key fobs on my disco 2 are worn right through i need to put something in to press the small black button that activates the locks,i tried my local landy dealer but they can only sell me a full new key, all i need is the cover.

    any ideas

    im normally on the disco forum with usual faults but im wanting a series 111 as a toy, ive seen a 73 series 111 with diesel engine 21/4. its quite rough and needing chassis welding otherwise not bad . question is whats it worth . no mot or tax. £500 sound too much??

    there is rust forming round my side windows on the satin black metal bar that separates these, its a common fault as ive seen loads of discos with the rust bubbling underneath the rubbers. has anyone repaired this fault or touched them up/

    the rear wiper stopped working a couple of weeks ago on my w reg td5 disco. i stripped it out and found that i had power going to it, so decided to strip the motor down, i took the two small torx screws out and exposed the armature i found one of the brushes were jammed and after cleaning it up and refittig it now works perfectly, but the brushes were fairly worn. the wiper motor is made by(trico products) and i was looking to get new brushes any help ?

    The common feedback is that it is normally the shaft that seizes but this wasent the case, its a shame to pay for a new motor when its just the brushes.

    got a smell of diesel and a wee weep ,looks like its comining from the back of the engine,i think it has been discussed before as a common fault. anybody help ?td5 disco w reg manual

    i ran my 300 tdi disco on bio for a couple of years , along with some plant i have jcb, benford dumper etc, everything seemed fine and i sold the disco , now have td5 which i dont run on bio, the reason being that some machines were poor to start, so after stripping down my lister engined logsplitter i found the tank was thick with gunge filters clogged and injectors clogged , i think this must be the bio additive strippin out lining

  7. oh oh the heater on my 2000 disco td5 has started to be intermittent,but have noticed a small weep of coolant,its the top hose thats leaking, but have noticed a swelling of the hose ,does this generally mean head gasket failure

    apart from the clutch slipping and rear hub seal leaking everything was not too bad.now i have the ENGINE CHECK LIGHT,coming on intermitantly it only comes on when i start the engine, if i stop and take key out and restart it normally goes away.2000 td5

    any ideas? do i need to get a fault code.

  9. while looking for the golden fleece,sorry i mean while trying to find the culprit for wheel judder /vibration i had the rear wheels jacked up and i put my hand behind the rear disk and found it cacked in oil, is this a diff seal?

  10. I guess you can probably get spacers to convert one to the other - you can certainly fit Td5 type wheels onto a Discovery Tdi by using the appropriate spacers.

    Maybe they are the same PCD - I will try and find some at work to measure.

  11. ive checked almost everything, bottom ball joint small perish in it but thats about all,still got cv joints to check and thats me exhausted most avenues.going to swap all wheels as the ones on it are from a rr.my mate has a d3 and has upgraded the wheels and still has standard ones,do they fit?

    how do you check cv joints as the boot are not perished and hav no noise from them?

    gonna have a look at my swivel pin to try to cure my steering wobble, on my 2000 td5 disco.is the preload the same as a disco 1 i looked at the land rover forun and this showed a good (how to)

  13. ive bought back my old 300 tdi m reg its a wee bit rough but its a good old workhorse.i only paid £300 for it wit mot and tax for just under a year.the reason it was so cheap is that the clutch has gone.whats the best clutch kit to get (borg and beck) or (valeo)im not going to do it my self as a local garage said they would do it for £160 sound ok?
