  1. Hi all...

I have taken the trailer test, failed though.....

In all the trailer stuff is fairly simple, it isvery similar to the lorry test.

1st - Reverse in to a garage around set out cones making sure you dont hit any, and reverse up to a line making sure a certain amount of your trailer is over the line.

    2nd - Emergency stop at 20mph

3rd - Road driving - this is what caught me out, you spend nearly an hour on the road with the examiner, so before you start to learn any trailer stuff you should make sure your general driving is up to scratch.

4th - Coupling and un coupling

As already stated at £115 for a test i wasnt going to have anmother try in a hurry.

    Hope this helps

  2. Hi all..

Have been having a twiddle about with my pump today and although i didnt measure it my mark on the plunger only goes what looks like 3/4 of the way up. There is a plastic washer at the top of the plunger cone, so i tryed taking it off, went for a test drive and checked it again and it had made no difference to how far up the plunger the pin went, it sounds as though my pump is very similar to yours Les in the fact it only go's 3/4 of the way up the cone.

As taking the plastic washer off made no difference, then does anyone know its purpose?

    Many thanks

    Charlie

  3. James, No doubt someone else will tell you more in depth, but ill have a go....

When i had a battry cable made up by a local motor factor, the chap that did it asked whether i wanted negative or positive terminals,

he said the difference is in size, ie one is bigger than the other, so if your new battery has say positive terminals and they are say the larger of the sort, And your cables have got negative terminals and are say the smaller type they wont fit as they will be like you say too tight,

I am unsure as to which type is the larger of the two types, but im sur all that is needed is a replacement cable terminal of the correct size to suit and all will be well, Although i could be totaly wrong

    Hope this helps

    Charlie
