  1. I have taken the car for a ride today and no symtoms of any faults. But I know that the problem still is in the car cause there is a intermittent clicking sound when driving. Sounds like a relay.

I have changed the battery in my fob over a week ago and it made no difference. I agree that it sounds like a earth problem.

What do you mean by checking the positive connections, especially the main feed in from the battery. If I unscrew the screw to the right connector and then put it back there is a clicking sound. Is it normal?

I am glad that the description Tank suited you. THANK You as well!

    Also driving a white Disco!

  2. Tank you for answering!

I have checked the the battery terminals and the chassi earth, and have fully charged battery. I realised yesterday that the earth cable between the battery ang chassi is split and attached to the aluminium body. This one I havent checked yet and also the bell housing is left to check. The one in the fotwell is checked.

Meaby the spider is playing up. But are the spider related to the indicators and the hazards? Or is it two problems? Strange though that the came at the same time mor or less.

  3. I agre that it sounds like an earthing problem but have checked all the earthing points in my car. I took my RAVE manual and workd my way trough every earthing points. What can be wrong? Is it the earthing in some other place?

  4. Hi!

I have a major electrical problem in my Discovery I -98. All of the problems below occurs intermittent.

Problem 1. It all started when i pusched the two button remotcontrol to lock the car, then the alarm started to sound. I unlock the car with the remote without any problem.

Problem 2. After this problem the right indicator started to shine constantly when I moved the indicator stick to the right. And the green indicator symbol started to shine as well. I then cecked all the fuses and they were fine. But when I pulled out fuse nr 1 in the facia fusebox (indicators and brakelight) and then lock the car with the remote without any problem. The alarm and hazard blink three times as it should. When I put the fuse back the same problem occur.

Problem 3. When i pusch the hazardswitch all the warninglights (SRS, glow, oilpessure etc) start to blink together with the hazardlights.

Problem 4. The next problem that occurd was that the car wouldent start, like the battery run flat. But after trying to start a couple of times the cars start without any problem, but with a lot of hessitating from the starter. Its like a jeopardy for two days if it starts or not. Then all of a sudden its been working for a week without any problem.

Problem 5. When pushing the hazard buttom the front wipers starts and they sometimes move slow, sometimes fast. This fault have only occurd one time.

Problem 6. After a week without any starting problems but with electrical problem with the indicator and hazard + warninglights. The cars suddenly wont start again. I tried to start the car three times but startermotor wont start the car, almost like the battery is run flat (battery fully charged the night before)Its just a clicking sound. Then on my fourth attempt to start it starts like it never have done before. With full power!

I have now checked every fuse again, and checked all the earthing points in the RAVE manual. I have also tested the MFU by doing the MFU test with the heated rear window switch. The only thing that wouldent self test is the rearwiper washer fluid.

What can be the problem, feels that I have tried everything, please give me som thoughts, tips or new inputs! Family planning to drive to Spain in February. Please help!

  5. Hi!

I have a Disco I -98 300Tdi. While driving home from work the right indicator lamps started shining constantly. I checked the fuses, earth wiring and all conecting wires and everything is fine. Can anyone help me solve the problem? I have also problem with the alarm, as soon as I trie to lock the car the alarm starts to sound and the indicators flash. Is it two separate problems or are they related?

    Thank you in advance!

  6. Hi!

I am about to instal new rear springs on my Discovery I and wonder what is up and down on the springs. Its H/D springs ANR4491 painted grey/brown on one end. The end with paint has a more tight wraps on 1/4 of the total spring. Should this be up or down? Hope I explained so you understand!

    Thank you in advance!

  7. Thank you all!

So if I understand it right, there is no problem, execpt that you loose acc and meaby have to change gear more often?

But gearbox and transfer should be fine!

But how about driving in sand, I have read that you need good acc to get out of the deep sand, anyone how have give it a try?

  8. What do you mean by "It did change the gearing slightly but no real problems"

or it "don't upset the gearing too much"

    Can I harm the gearbox?

The second alternative is 245/75 16 but it would be great to have 235/85 because its a common dimension.

  9. Hi!

I wonder if there are any problems with fitting 235/85 16 tyres on a Discovery? Can you drive with these tyres without destroying gearbox/transerbox or any axles? I plan an overland trip and want increased hight and a tyre size thats common.

But is there any disadvantage with this dimension? (execpt some minor trimming and bump stop adjusting)

    Thank you in advance!

  10. Many nice pics! Great!

I wonder about the road holding with non stock tyre. Except all information about triming etc a really important question for me is roadholding. I do a lot of motorway in Europe in the summer to different offroad tours in Spain etc. I need to replace my old and worn out 225/75 16 and they have been great but I want a bit more ground calrence. For example with 235/85 16 tyres or any other none stock tyres (I consider my old tyres stock tyres because the diffrence is so small). How much does this effect cornering in higher speed?

    Thank you in advance

  11. I hope its just plug and play for me. Have a 300 tdi -98. I wonder how much of the interior do you need to take away to get to the rear lights cluster? In the Haynes manual it is claimed that you need to take away the back seats.
