  1. Thank you all for your help and advice.

I have adjusted the MAF using a CO2 Analyser and will be going for the re test next week.

I will let you all know how I get on

The worst that can happen is that i will have to fit the cats and oxygen sensors or maybe only the oxygen sensors.

    Lets see what happens

    Many thanks to you all.

Anyone needing a solution for electric seat movement when the Seat ECU is missing or broken I can help

  2. "I don't know how important it is but the test set up was for a Landrover Freelander 3.497cc"

    Very I would say!

What year is your Range Rover?

Unless it's got cats, and BTW there is not a Range Rover Classic made that MUST have cats for MOT purposes, the Lambda reading shouldn't be part of the test AFAIK.

My own 1990 3.9 RRC is only tested on CO and HC content, it would pass the cat test comfortably but doesn't have to.

Here's a link to the relevant griff.

My RRC was reged on 1st Aug 1992. all cars should be fitted with cats andoxygen sensors after this date. However I will be adjusting the mixture this weekend and see if I can get the Lambda down to 1 or a bit below this will bring up the CO2 and the HC. I will adjust the mixture using the Co2 analyser so as not to go too far.

I understand that if the vehicle is not fitted with Cats then it should be teated as a vehicle without cats and the Lambda test becomes N/A I will let you all know

  3. Can anyone help?

I have a 3.9 RR that has faile the MOT on the Lamda test only.

The exhaust has been changed some time in its life to a normal non cat no sensors.

The resitor has been changed to 470 ohm on the engine ECU under the driver seat.

    The readings are as follows

    fast idle test

    CO 0.163 Pass

    HC 71 Pass

    Lambda 1.186 Fail

    Second fast Idle

    CO 0.164 Pass

    HC 40 Pass

    Lambda 1.174 Fail

    Natural Idle

    CO 0.499 Pass

I don't know how important it is but the test set up was for a Landrover Freelander 3.497cc

I have not been able to find the Lambda values all hoses are OK and the exhaust
