  1. ..also while reading a few posts here i suppose it could possibly be the IRD,is there any surefire way of diagnosing which box is at fault?

    any help aprecciated.

ok..after a lot of forum hopping i reckon its the IRD thats shot, and possibly VCU.

would removing the rearpropshaft make any difference to the horrible banging/scraping noise from the IRD till i can source another?

kinda beginning to regret selling me disco now :(

  2. Hi going to look at an r reg freelander today,i beleive it needs a new gearbox,si i will be looking for a replacement, can anyone tell me which model the gearbox is....is it the same gearbox throughout the model run or were they changed at any point? thanks.

  4. hi there, a little help here pls guys!!

my speedo doesnt work,so i disconnected it at the transfer box end, scooshed some wd40 up the sleeve, got the missus to check if the speedo worked as i twiddled me end (ooeer) wich it did..top bombing i thought,so i reconnected it and....nothing...the end seemed square enough so i dont think it was too worn to turn. any ideas where to go for here?

    thanks :P

  5. disco handles are renound for getting stuck,

if so WD 40 and a screwdriver frees it up, then keep working it till it works smooth again

    JOB'S A FISH ;)

    mikey

i second this, had the same problem...pry out the badge, good skoosh of wd,then work the handle...jobs a good 'un!

  6. Hi there, first post-just bought myself an old disco to knock about in, its clumsy, clunky, leaky and battered...and i love it

apart from leaking like a seive and the crunchy second gear, its in not to bad a shape chasis wise.

ive just come from an e36 325,and i know the disco isnt the fastest thing on four wheels, but i feel its a little sluggish and doesnt seem to want to rev past 3500k...as the rev counter goes to 6k i was wondering if this is normal? the turbo seems ok as i can hear it spooling up around 2.5k... air filter on order as its a bit gunky..and plan to clear the sedimenter in the next couple of days and have changed the fuel filter...any ideas welcomed :P
