  2. Hi all

After 3 years of enjoying my Land rover due to family committments I no longer have the time to give it the attention that it deserves, so I have decided I have to sell it.

I know this isn't the selling forum but at the moment it is purely advice that I am after.

I have a 1995 defender 110 with lots of history, MOTs/receipts etc It is due for it's MOT this week so it will have 12 months MOT and 7 months tax.

It has a 300tdi engine which always starts first time and an R380 gearbox which I've been told is the better one. It is in reasonably good condition for it's age but needs some minor attention (eg second row doors need repairing, which most seem to do) see pictures below.

It has 3 front seats which I have the cubby box to replace middle seat if you prefer it.

There are no second row seats but two 3 person bench seats with seatbelts.

I also have two spare wheels.

The tires have plenty of tread left and in the last twelve months it has had a new water pump, new alternator, new viscous fan and blades and cowling, rear heavy duty springs fitted standard height, and the rear crossmember with extensions replaced, (which you would expect for it's age)It has also had a new front standard bumper and front passenger bearings seals and swivel housing replaced and the right front swivel housing large seal replaced.

In the three years that I have had it it's never let me down and starts first time even in the winter.

It has 111,000 on the clock (for a 16 year old that's not bad)

As I mentioned at the beginning I am only looking for some advice on what sort of price to ask for.

A very sad boy :( to see it go

    Roy

ps yes I do know it wants washing ;)

  3. I've tried a search without success, and also realise that if it dosen't leak it's not a Land Rover, but of the many causes of leaks can anyone tell me which one causes water to drip onto my right foot during heavy rain. I've tried to looking for a source of water ingress, but it is difficult as it only seems to happen when I'm driving so I can't spend too long staring into the driver's footwell. Once I have identified the source, is it fixable?

    Hi tazz

  4. Hi all

As most of you here will know, especially if you have a landrover that is over 15 years old, that welding can be expensive. So I've decided to have a go myself. I'm thinking of buying an ARC welder. The reason for this is the cost and my father has some experience with ARC welding.

Trouble is I don't know what sort of ampage/voltage would be suitable.

One thing we have to take into account is that money is tight at the moment so I'm looking for something that will do the job without breaking the bank.

Has anybody got any experience with ARC welders and can advise me on what to get?

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks Roy.

  5. Hi all

I am going to have to replace my second row doors on my 110 soon and have decided to bite the bullet and get new ones. The only thing that I am concerned about is that I will have to transfer my locks and windows etc onto the new ones.

Has anybody got any experience of this and how hard a job is it?

Any instructions or youtube clips would be most appreciated.

    Thanks Roy

  6. Hi folks

I'm having a problem with opening the drivers side door from the inside. When you pull the release catch it pulls the locking catch down. If you hold the locking catch up and then pull the release catch it opens ok.

As my MOT is due in July I need to get it fixed.

    Can anyone suggest a solution?

    Thanks Roy

  7. Hi all

    I have a Defender 110 300tdi with an R380 gearbox in it.

It seems to have a lot of play in the pedal (1cm). According to my Haynes manual from the floor to the lower edge of the rubber should be 140mm. To my measurements mine is 150mm. Which means it is 10mm out. I understand how to make this adjustment but I'm a bit hazy on how to adjust the freeplay on the pedal as well as the freeplay between the pushrod and the master cylinder as there only seems to be one method of adjustment which is two locknuts on the pushrod. Which is the easiest way to get the adjustment right? That is, do I adjust the pushrod freeplay to 1.5mm or the freeplay on the pedal to be 6mm?

I've only had the vehicle for 18months and I'm not sure if it was like this when I had it or whether it has gone like this since, I think it is since I had it back from the MOT. I also noticed that the cross member underneath the gearbox has been moved as you can tell that the bolts have been disturbed. I asked the bloke about this and he claims that he hasn't touched it but I don't think he did the work, I think it was one of his lads. I don't think the problem is with the clutch itself as that is engaging the gears fine it just seems to be a sloppy pedal.

  8. Hi folks

I wonder if you could help me. I have a Britpart DB12000i winch and tubular bumper black powder coated as well as a defender 110 full galvanised roof rack which I am thinking of selling but I'm not sure what sort of price to put them at.

The winch and bumper are three years old. The winch has never been used.

See photos below, any comments would be most appreciated.

    Thanks Roy
