I haven't had the problem for some time now.. everything seems to be ok. no smoke no nothing. Its a factory fitted ECU but apparently the cars had a new engine 12000 miles ago..
Although... I get a ticking sort of sound from around the gearbox or that sort of area. wierdly not all the time.
A friend says it could just be a loose bolt. anyone heard of that?

evening everybody!
right so the 90 is slowly getting up graded. only some simple stuff tho as when i got it in may it was stock right through.
all i wanna know is can i put on 285 size wheels to it? its just got standard suspension and spring and put on 30mm spacers today!
obviously i can put them on BUT do i have to do any work to the springs and shocks etc. meaning - will it cost me a load of money on top of buying the wheels
cheers

Right so going back to my last post with the white smoke on first starting.
I managed to get my hands on a nanacom this evening.
Got some results but cant seem to work out what they mean or how to solve them
Anyone got any clues?
results that were found were
"Fault 10 -01, 10-03. 10-04, 10-05, 14 -01, 14 -03, 14 -04, 14-05"....

You could trek down to 'The Rising Sun' in Pondtail road, Horsham after about 9pm on a Wednesday evening where you will find some like minded drinkers - and some firemen usually.
Other than that there is a Pay and Play at Slindon next weekend, see here for details.

Bugger all in Sussex I'm afraid, they were almost all lost. Plenty over in the Surrey Hills area, I won't give specifics on here but get yourself an OS map or two of the area and you'll soon find them. Some are TRO'd at the moment though, so be aware of that when planning.
As Chris says, Slindon is running on the 26th, very highly recommended and not too far away.
Hampshire is well into the patch of the Shire Land Rover Club, who run events around the South of the country fairly reguarly. Worth joining up. Think there's a Horsham club as well, but don't recall the name off hand.
Usually if you give notice people will be up for joining you on a laning day trip, although people tend to keep it to around 4 vehicles max to limit the impact. A general rule is, if you are getting stuck then the lane could do with a break to recover
Cheers man, on the OS Maps, what is the greenlanes/byways marked as...?

I've had my defender TD5 on a 51 plate now for just close to 2 months. When I start the engine, regardless of the time of day, if I give it a little rev the engine seems to shake and then I get white smoke out the exhaust... It only happens for all of a few seconds and then nothing is thought of it after.
Anyone got any ideas of what it might be?
Plus since I'm on topic! - when accelerating from first starting it, it takes a long time for the turbo to kick in. Is this just because its cold?
Please say it is!
Little help please!

Does anyone have any ideas of any half decent green lanes/ byways in my area. Based around Horsham, don't mind treckin' around to find some nice lanes.
I've done some offroading but up for a challenge - anyone know of any meetings or local groups to join?
Cheers Dave

When doing the London to Brighton run we took a few back lanes on the way to make it a little more exciting. But when going down one lane i hit a pot hole at speed and it made the car bounce. Not only bounce but the wipers came on and the hazzard lights.
After speaking to a garage they assure me that the hazzard lights come on when the car is hit as a safety feature. but ever since my wipers have been a bit dodgy. Just recently the wipers now come on whenever they want. mainly in the "second speed" meaning going constant rather than a few seconds wait. I've been told it could be a loose wire and that when it touches something it makes the wipers go off....
What the hell is it. It's really starting to tiddle me off!!!!
Anyone got any clues? much appriciated.
Dave
