  1. i no they have been checked but does sound like air springs, mine did the same thing. would go days with no problem then all of a sudden go down, there was a small hole that sometimes would seal its self depending on the position of the spring as it rolled up/down sometimes covering the hole if your get my drift...

i fitted the coil conversion and all air spring related problems are a thing of the past...

Thanks for this, I have a feeling that you are correct and the coil springs were going to be the route to follow.

Roughly how much did it cost.

  2. 2003 Discovery, diesel

Earlier this year I found that the suspension had suddenly deflated although once started it rose and maintained itself at that height. Taken into the dealer and diagnosed with a faulty leveller valve. Had it replaced and since then it recurs at10 day intervals. Dealer has been very good at trtying to diagonose problem but it never happens when in the garage. During the 2 weeks when I was in the USA the dealer had it for checking. Different drivers, tried it but it was never found to deflate; for the 10 days after I returned it did not occur. It has now started to happen again at 5-10 day intervals. The air springs have been checked. All suggestions welcomed.

  3. May sound silly but check there's no moths, flies or (real) spiders inside that can set off the volumetric sensors.

    Guess how I know!! ;)

May sound silly but it got me thinking, I had already thought of mice following my wife's car providng a residence.

However my neighbour has a bamboo plant that has been heavy with snow and it is has been banging against the Disco in windy weather. It only happens in the drive.

    Many thanks

  4. To be sure, you can plug it into a diagnostic computer and read off the cause of the alarm triggers (the last 5 are recorded in the BCU) but if you are getting around it by locking it with the key, chances are it is the interior ultrasonic sensor as if you lock with the key it disables the volumetric protection - this is designed so you can lock a dog in the car etc without setting the alarm off. You will probably need a new sensor but get it checked on a computer first to confirm that.

Many thanks once again for your advice. the other post suggested checking for moths, whilst i was worried about mice as my wife's Astra had mice nesting in it, I am not aware of any on the Disco. However my neighbour has a bamboo plant that has been heavy with snow and it is has been baning against the disco in windy weather. It only has happened in the drive so will check that out first, thereafter to the computer.

    Kindest regards.

  5. 2003 Disco

Locking the Disco with the key fob is OK, however 15-20 minutes later the alarm goes off. So far it has only happened in the drive; started on sdaturday 9 Jan (1), Sunday 10 Jan(2) and Mon 11 Jan(1).

At presently getting round it my manual locking teh door.

    Any suggestions?

    Many thanks in anticipation John(Currie)

  6. Cut the fuel line where the leak is, then put a short length of 8mm I/D bore rubber fuel pipe in it's place and secure with a couple of 12mm fuel pipe clips.

    Les.

Many thanks for the tip, will wait and see how most recent temp. repair does.

    Regards John

  7. Very surprised that they cant source until November !! I had a leak above the fuel tank where it enters the fuel pump (& Fuel Level Indicator). The whole set of pipes (4 in total) was around £56 + VAT, although fitting it is awkward as you have to drop the fuel tank ! I would try and source it yourself and then let them fit it, unless you feel OK doing it yourself. As a previous poster has mentioned, a fuel clip and a piece of pipe could be the cheaper alternative and quiet straight forward to do. If the leak is on the green marked pipe, I believe thats the one which has the high pressure feed to the engine.

    Regards

    Unsporting Lisbon

It is the green pipe and have been in touch with Land Rover; I am not the only person waiting to get this part, fortuneately the dealer is managing to keep me on the road.

    Many thanks for your help.

Several component manufacturers have gone into liquidation resulting n lack of spares.

    Regards john (Currie)

  8. Had disco since new, 6 years old(diesel). For the third time the fuel pipe above the tank has leaked. The dealer has been very good with two temp. repairs, currently back in to see what can be done. Part will not be available until November. Any ideas would be welcomed, could a second hand pipe be used?
