  1. Have a browse across to MOT Man

Tells all in fairly simple English.

Hi all could some of you give me some direction. I'm putting a May 1969 Series 2a back together and I'm not sure exactly what it does actually need by law.

I have no hazards, rear fog lamp, & reversing lamp, do I need to get these fitted to the landy before MOT? Although a very good safety item do I need to have front and rear seat belts/straps??. I also don't have a spare wheel is this an MOT failure?

all words of wisdom very much appreciated.

    thanks

    Rich

  2. Well I've gone and done it... after much wifely disapproval of my

    1991 Discovery 200DTDi, I've got a Series.

    It's a 1963, 88", hardtop, with a 2 1/4 Diesel... and it's pretty

much untouched. No mods other than a reversing light and an electric

fan. It's got an alternator and is negative earth.. not sure if that's

original, and the headlights, still inboard, have been changed to H4 units,

save's me doing it I suppose.

After a quick spruce up, brakes stripped, duff bulbs changed, power washed

straw out, presented him (Billy apparently, that's the Landy's name) to the

MOT man. Couple of hourssweating... he's passed with advisories on brakes

pulling and corroded brake ferrules, soon to be sorted.

Main things to do next, put a thermostat on the electric fan, and some

warning lights on it and the reversing light.

Then sort out the smoking a bit, not sure how to approach, it could be filthy

diesel, it sat for a year, injectors, timing, rings..??? I'll run it for a bit

or maybe empty out the old diesel..put it in the Disco.. and refill with fresh

    first.

    The fun has just begun!

  3. I have a Blaupunkt Woodstock DA52, it has an infrared receiver plugged

into the back, the actual receiver is double side taped to the instument

    binnacle.

The controller an RC10 is secured to the steering wheel with a rubber strap

It's on my works Passat, but you get the idea.post-19177-126883657297_thumb.jpg
