as a example of Ross's reply above this bit of info will show where a alloy wheel interferes when fitted to the original thick drive members
http://www.web-rover.co.uk/nav.php?p=articles/alloys
if your 90 already has rear disc brakes & the later thinner drive members or has a ex-RR or Discovery rear axle retro-fitted then there is no problem fitting your chosen alloy wheels.
Excellent - thanks to all for the input.

5 on 6.5"
Is this the same bolt pattern for a 1988 LR90 ? (pre-Defender) ?
I would like to find some wheels like the SVX model, and not sure if fit...

These were cheap and cheerful generic off the internet jobbies. They come as a long roll and you cut to fit. Easy to fit and about 60 quid in total as I recall. Their flexible and about 4" as I recall. I think they are "Pacer" as I recall. If you want me to I'll try to dig up the name.
RPR - can I ask what you have for wheels in this pic, and any spacers ? Assuming you have std axles also, perhaps you could clarify...
thx mate

Has anyone ever done a non-rover conversion of a 19J to say an LS ?
My 19J has some pretty expensive problems, and for the money to repair I would prefer to upgrade to some power. If I could find a non so difficult to drop in NAS Defender or RR donor I would go that route, but there seems to be lots of LS available - but not sure what challenges I may run into in mating to the Transfer case etc... Appreciate anyone who can share thoughts,
