I've had a similar issue when filling up with diesel in some garages too and wondered what was causing it. It doesn't happen every time though so I haven't bothered to do much investigation. I'd be interested to know if it is the breather though! I have had problems with an erratic fuel gauge that appears to magically refill the tank! (If only!!!!) Could this be caused by a blocked breather too and the tank pressurising?

Quickest way to get the code is to ask your nearest Land Rover dealer. They can look it up for you! Some will charge for the privilege, others won't so phone a few of them if the first one tries to charge you!

I agree! The tow bar\tow hook is much stronger than the towing eye you removed. Tow bar should be rated to tow 2000kg or more!

No worries! Got mine fitted with a set of General Grabbers AT2s 215/70R16 this morning! £300 for the set fitted and balanced! Very pleased I am with the result too!

Largest diameter you can go to on a Freelander without major mods is around 28.5" or so I've been told!
215/80R16 measure 29.5" in diameter so probably not. 215/70R16 measure 27.8" and definitely do fit no problems!
Try this handy tyre size calculator I stumbled across on t'nternet!!
Mine's booked in for the morning to get a set of 215/70R16s fitted all round. Looking forward to it as mine's still running on the factory fit tyres and there a tad worn! Especially in the recent snow and ice!

I've read the blurb on the above site and it sounds wonderfull, but are we sure it won't affect emissions at the next MOT?
Diesels aren't tested for CO2 emissions at the moment only particulates (soot) so it shouldn't be a problem. It's very easy to refit the EGR valve anyway if required before MOT.
I drove mine on a 400+ mile round trip on Saturday including lots of stops and starts and got much MPG than I did before I fitted the bypass!

i have also disabled the egr, only by blocking off the vacumn pipe, still it has made it pick up better.
If you're looking to replace the EGR valve altogether I highly recommend these-
Just fitted one on my 2006 TD4 Manual, easy to fit (20mins) and has improved the responsiveness and MPG greatly! Just remember to clean all the oily and sooty gunge out of the pipes around the EGR valve too when fitting the bypass!

I drive a 2006 Freelander TD4 running on standard 16" alloy wheels with Michelin 4x4 Synchrone 215/65 R16 fitted at the moment.
I'm looking to change these fairly shortly and am looking for advice on what to fit and what will fit. I'm looking for something a bit better for mild offroad. My local tyre place suggested either General Grabber AT2 or BF Goodrich All Terrains. Having driven Defenders fitted with both these tyres I know they are ideal for what I want! The Generals are available in the same size as what are fitted so they're ok but the BF Goodrich don't come in that size. The nearest size available is 215/70 R16. I know the aspect ratio is pretty close but I am unsure of what maximum size a Freelander will take and what effect it will have on steering, speedo reading etc. Any advice or recommendations greatly appreciated!!

Spotted these on eBay! Ridiculous price though! They have 10 of them apparently so they might be open to negotiation! Doubt it though, them being a main stealer! But maybe worth a try!
