  1. hi, i have done exactly what you are trying to do, join a 300 tdi and lt77 together,

i used the backplate of the old td engine and it went straight onto the 300 tdi so can't really explain where your going wrong but it can be done if i can do it,

make sure you put some sealant round the backplate before bolting on to the engine as it will probably leak oil out like mine has when you get it running, having to split engine and box again to seal it

    hope you get it sorted.

  2. I'll be able to figure out the engine loom, but what I'm asking is what do the 3 big fuses do that are in the engine bay of a 300 tdi because I can't find them on any of the wiring diagrams I have? Do I even need them, they are part of the standard loom,or are they for optional extras maybe?

    Cheers

  3. after my search for a wiring loom i have got myself a 300 tdi loom, 99% complete i could do with an engine loom but figuring i'll be able to make something from my old loom, so far most of it is making sense to me apart from,

a part of the loom that goes in the engine bay there is 3 big fuses, 60 amp 30 amp and 20 amp, each fuse has a thick brown wire from one side and the other side is a metal band, i'm assuming the metal band is going to be a live feed but where is it fed from?

  4. just wondering if anybody can tell me if the wiring loom is the same for a diesel as it is in a v8?

i need a complete loom for my project 90 due to previous owner making a mess of the old one whilst trying to re-locate the fusebox and have found a v8 been broken local ish but wasnt sure if theres any major differences between the diesel and petrol looms.

    cheers ben

  5. i got a qoute through sureterm for my 84 90 of £91.67!

it was a limited milage of 5000 miles with no ncb as its on my daily driver and i'm 28, so just need to finish re-building it and get it on road now.

  6. hi, i'm just about to re-start my 90 project after a short break to re-coup some money but i have got bored of waiting, i'm just thinking before i get to far......

i have changed the original td engine for a 300 tdi out of a discovery, i kept the lt77 gearbox and have put the td back plate onto the 300 tdi, its currently just a rolling chassis with the engine bolted in but i seem to remember reading somewhere after i got it fitted that the back plate could do with some sealant between the engine and back plate to stop oil leaking,

i did replace the main oil seal on the back plate but just that niggling in the back of my mind that it may leak, so thought best ask before i get any further

    cheers ben

  7. look on steve parkers land rovers website, i have just fitted a disco 300tdi into my 1984 90 using his engine mounts makes the job alot easier.

also theres loads of other bits he does to help the conversion , oil cooler pipes, water pipe kit etc etc

its quite easy if you keep the lt77 gearbox aswell

    good luck
