Hi thanks for your answer, I have already checked out that brilliant "spider thread",A few months ago I had to replace the injection pump, the old pump had some electronics encased in plastic next to the stop soloniod, the one I replaced it with did not it ran perfectly well for at least 2 months, then started to get the tired spider symtoms,so I bypassed the spider or what I thought was the spider by connecting a wire from the ignition to the starter and putting a wire from the battery to a rocker switch then to the stop soloniod, this works but the starter motor overuns unless I switch the ignition off then back on again to position 2.then it runs perfectly because the mot is due Ineed to sort it.
There is an ecu in the drivers footwell with diesel control unit wrote on it could this be at fault.
ANY IDEAS WOULD BE REGARDED AS A LANDY SAVOUR REGARDS STEVE
So then does the EDC type have a spider or is there a different control unit I can try to find a way to fix

I have a 97 disco 1,that started having problems akin to the imfamous spider problems so I bought the plug in bypass stripped of all those nasty bits of plastic only to find the spider had packed it's web and moved on.
So what I was wondering is weather any of you electrical/security boffins could help me out
the disco is a 300 tdi manual
